Like ice cream--melting and dripping on your shoes...
Being the type of person who over thinks everything, James Frederick has had many sleepless nights.
To attempt to solve his insomnia, he began writing songs. While the
sleeplessness has never diminished, a budding songwriter has slowly
developed. James began playing his songs at Caffé Lena's open mic night
where he quickly became known as "The Crayons Guy" for a song that
he wrote about a kid coloring with crayons. Of course, like all James
Frederick songs, "Crayons" is about much more. Thanks to the
over thinking, each song becomes a metaphor for feelings
that are difficult to express and thoughts that never seem to go away.
James's style is a cross between
contemporary folk, alt-country, and some roots rock. His eclectic mix of
influences include: Shawn Mullins, Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes, Joni Mitchell, The Indigo Girls, The Wallflowers, Amiee Mann, and Johnny Cash.
